In 2013 AAF Flanders, in collaboration with Daikin Industries, developed eFRM, the first membrane media to be compatible with oil-based test aerosols, such as PAO. Since then, tens of thousands of HEPA filters with eFRM media have been installed in hundreds of applications, with a failure rate less than 1%.

The benefits of membrane media do not end at its robust strength. As is true with PTFE/ePTFE media, eFRM media boasts a pressure drop that is roughly half that of glass media. This decreased airflow resistance equates to significantly lower energy usage and reduced strain on HVAC equipment.
