Summary

AstroCel I HEPA filters are used primarily in “cleanrooms” and “clean benches,” areas which require the very highest levels of contamination control. The filter consists of water-proofed, fire-retardant fiberglass media formed into a series of pleats. Corrugated sheets of aluminum separate the pleats to permit maximum usage at minimum resistance. The media is enclosed in and foam bonded to a filter frame made of aluminum or galvanized steel. Optional antimicrobial traps and concentrates particulate air contaminants to improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) while preserving the integrity of the media. Gasketing is available on the upstream, downstream or both faces.

“H”-level filters are scan tested at 99.99% efficiency to insure the filter is free from pin hole leaks. Factory scanning detects these leaks which are repaired before the filter is released for shipment. AAF uses a proprietary static scan test with a challenge aerosol of non-toxic, polyfunctional alcohol . For pharmaceutical and those applications requiring PAO, AAF offers scanning with this material using a light scattering photometer.
