AAF developed the AmerKleen line of diesel engine intake filters and housings in conjunction with EMD in 1970. Since the 1970’s, the majority of locomotives delivered in North America have been equipped with the AmerKleen bags and housings. The first locomotive to go 1,000,000 miles before a major overhaul was equipped with AmerKleen bags. AAF also provides filters for marine applications.
